Building the future immigration system: a whole system approach

Stopping the boats and reducing net migration is a central government priority – but it is only one part of creating an immigration system that supports the economy, is operationally effective, and is fiscally sustainable. In recent years, the Home Office has faced challenges that have fundamentally reshaped the immigration system. Managing costs and improving efficiency is a key priority, and central to the Department’s spending settlement. Achieving this will require innovative solutions and new ways of working.

This roundtable will explore what a future operating model for the immigration and resettlement system, drawing on lessons from recent years to consider how to balance good customer service and fair treatment with the need to reduce costs and manage logistical complexity.

Re:State is delighted to welcome Paul Morrison CBE, Director General for Immigration and Citizenship Service, Home Office to share his initial perspective on how the system is responding to the challenge and where he sees the biggest opportunities moving forward.
