Panellists:
Re:State is delighted to host a panel event at Conservative Party Conference. Please join us in person outside the Secure Zone (approximately a 7-minute walk from Manchester Central) Lecture Room, Manchester Art Gallery, Mosley St, Manchester, M2 3JL. You do not need a pass to attend.
Britain has always been one of the most attractive countries to do business, with world-leading sectors, high-performing research institutions and a strong legal framework. However, in a competitive, and increasingly internal-looking global landscape, those attributes are no longer sufficient – and Britain risks falling behind, hamstrung by creaking infrastructure, an insufficiently skilled workforce and a regulatory framework which is overly risk-averse.
A new approach is needed to change this and reboot the economy. The ambitious devolution agenda begun by the Conservative government provides a foundation for driving growth from the regions. Realising this region-driven growth will require complimentary action at the national – from tax and regulatory reform to smart investment in skills and infrastructure, as well as relentless focus on communicating that Britain is open for business.
Re:State is delighted to welcome Gareth Davies MP, Shadow Financial Secretary; Aphra Brandreth MP; Mark Wallace, Chief Executive, Total Politics Group; and Tim Sarson, Tax Partner, KPMG, to explore how a Conservative government would reboot the economy by driving growth from the regions.
This panel event will be held in-person and is kindly supported by KPMG.
