Re:State is delighted to host this 'in conversation' event at Conservative Party Conference. Please join us in person outside the Secure Zone (approximately a 7-minute walk from Manchester Central) Lecture Room, Manchester Art Gallery, Mosley St, Manchester, M2 3JL. You do not need a pass to attend.
As the clear risks presented by Britain’s unsustainable levels of debt show, there is no route to a strong economy without sound public finances, and no route to sound public finances without a strong economy. Markets must be confident in the stability and competitiveness of the UK – from government’s ability to control spending to its commitment to growth-friendly tax and regulation – and the State must be able to deliver high-productivity public services that are affordable now and sustainable in to the future. That means gripping ballooning costs, embracing radical reform and taking tough choices.
Within this context lies an opportunity: to reinforce the Conservative Party’s long-standing reputation as the responsible stewards of the British economy and public finances. The coming years will demand courage, clarity, and honesty. Hard decisions will need to be made and articulated in ways that rebuild public confidence.
Re:State is delighted to welcome Rt Hon Mel Stride MP, Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer to share his vision for how a future Conservative government can navigate these pressures to deliver sound finances and a strong economy.
This event will be held in-person.
