Stuart Glassborow, Director, Infrastructure and Growth, HM Treasury

Driving growth: delivering the Government’s economic agenda

Growth is at the heart of the Government’s agenda. Delivering sustained economic growth will require not only stability and investment, but a clear understanding of how government, industry and institutions can work together to unlock productivity, support innovation and strengthen the UK’s long-term competitiveness. Across Whitehall there is now a deep focus on the practical reforms, strategic investments and institutional changes needed to create the conditions for growth across the economy.

This creates an important opportunity to reflect on how the State can best support growth in a challenging fiscal and geopolitical environment. Questions around public investment, industrial strategy, infrastructure delivery, skills, regulation and capital mobilisation are becoming increasingly central to the Government’s wider mission for economic renewal. The challenge is not simply identifying the drivers of growth, but ensuring that policy, institutions and delivery mechanisms are aligned behind them.

Re:State is delighted to welcome Stuart Glassborow, Director of Infrastructure and Growth at HM Treasury, to discuss the Government’s approach to growth, the priorities shaping the Treasury’s thinking and the opportunities to strengthen the UK’s economic performance in the years ahead.
