Liberal Democrat Party Conference: 'Community centric: accessible, equitable healthcare closer to home'

The Liberal Democrats have called for a community-centric, equitable, and accessible health and care system, ensuring care is delivered closer to home. But this is far from the reality of the health and care system, which faces several structural challenges holding it back from realising its potential.    

Delivering a community-centric system will require collaboration throughout the health system, as well as with local government, the voluntary sector and industry. Embracing innovation and enabling the wider primary care ecosystem is also essential. For example, recent reforms and commitments relating to community pharmacies have highlighted the potential for pharmacies to play a greater role in improving access to care, including through expanded services such as independent prescribing. As these developments take shape, this is a vital moment to explore the future role of community pharmacy and what is valued most from community-centric systems.  

Re:State is delighted to host this Liberal Democrat Party Conference roundtable with Layla Moran MP, Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee to explore the Liberal Democrats' vision for building a community-centric, equitable, and accessible health and care system.
