Liberal Democrat Party Conference: 'Powering UK prosperity: a plan for growth'

The UK faces a pivotal moment: with global competition intensifying, domestic pressures mounting, and the public finances under deep strain. Stagnant productivity, a complex planning system, skills shortages, weak business investment and constrained access to long-term capital are all acting as brakes on the economy back. At the same time, high energy costs, regulatory uncertainty and slow infrastructure delivery continue to dampen confidence.    

Yet while the search for economic growth has never been more urgent, it is also solvable with sustained, targeted reform efforts, building on the nation’s great strengths to power UK prosperity.   

This event will examine the practical reforms needed to unlock growth – and the respective roles government and business must play.
