Safety and innovation: the future of UK health regulation

The Government has set out ambitions to make the UK a world-leading destination for life sciences investment, clinical research, and the adoption of innovative treatments. At the same time, rapid advances in artificial intelligence, genomics, health technologies, and precision medicine are creating new opportunities to improve patient outcomes, and new risks to patient safety. The challenge is ensuring that regulation keeps pace with technological change.

With a new Medical technology strategy expected imminently, and an increasingly complex landscape of emerging technologies, how will the UK’s regulatory framework continue to protect patients while supporting innovation, adoption, and economic growth?
